Inspections:
At Total Care Environmental Testing, we provide independent, third-party indoor environmental inspections and testing to help homeowners, property managers, real estate professionals, and restoration partners make informed decisions. Our services focus on identifying environmental concerns, understanding contributing conditions, and guiding next steps without performing remediation ourselves.
Mold Inspections & Testing
Mold inspections are designed to evaluate visible mold growth, moisture conditions, and potential sources contributing to microbial activity.
Our mold inspections may include:
- Visual assessment of accessible areas
- Moisture measurements (pin and pinless)
- Thermal imaging to identify potential hidden moisture
- Relative humidity evaluation
- Limited-access inspections using borescope technology
- Air sampling and/or surface sampling when warranted
Laboratory analysis is performed by accredited third-party labs. Results are interpreted using industry guidance from the EPA, AIHA, and IICRC.
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments
Indoor Air Quality assessments evaluate the overall condition of the air within a building and how it may impact occupant health and comfort.
IAQ assessments may assess:
- Airborne particulates, allergens, and mold spores
- Humidity and ventilation conditions
- HVAC system cleanliness and airflow concerns
- Environmental factors contributing to odors or discomfort
IAQ testing is often recommended for occupants experiencing persistent symptoms, unusual odors, or after water damage or construction.
Mycotoxin Testing
Mycotoxins are toxic chemical compounds that may be produced by certain mold species under specific environmental conditions. Not all mold produces mycotoxins, and their presence cannot be determined through standard mold testing alone.
Mycotoxin testing is a specialized service offered when additional insight is desired, particularly in health-sensitive situations or when symptoms persist despite normal mold results. Testing may include surface or dust-based sampling and laboratory analysis through specialized mycotoxin labs.
Post-Remediation Verification (PRV) / Clearance Testing
Post-remediation verification testing is performed after mold remediation to confirm that affected areas have been properly cleaned and that indoor conditions are acceptable prior to reconstruction or reoccupancy.
PRV services may include:
- Visual inspection of remediated areas
- Air sampling and/or surface sampling
- Verification that containment and cleaning were effective
PRV testing is performed independently from remediation contractors to ensure unbiased results.
Moisture Intrusion & Leak Investigations
Moisture is the primary driver of mold growth. Our inspections focus on identifying current or historical moisture issues that may not be immediately visible.
This service may include:
- Moisture mapping of building materials
- Thermal imaging to identify concealed moisture
- Evaluation of plumbing fixtures, building envelope, and HVAC components
- Identification of conditions conducive to future moisture problems
Asbestos Inspections & Testing
Total Care Environmental Testing provides asbestos inspections and sampling in accordance with state regulations.
Services may include:
- Pre-renovation or pre-demolition asbestos inspections
- Bulk material sampling
- Laboratory analysis through accredited asbestos labs
Kayla Parks is a Licensed Asbestos Inspector in North Carolina and South Carolina.

- Independent third-party oversight to help prevent incomplete remediation or future issues
